When was Wan 2.6 released?

Alibaba Cloud announced Wan 2.6 in December 2025, adding clips up to 15 seconds, multi-shot storytelling and synchronized audio. The wan2.6 model is available through the APIMart Wan 2.6 API now.

What is the Wan 2.6 API and how does it work?

It is one asynchronous endpoint, POST /v1/videos/generations with model wan2.6. Leave out image_urls for text to video, or send one image for image to video; the mode is chosen automatically. You then poll the task for the video.

How is Wan 2.6 different from Wan 2.5?

Wan 2.6 adds 15 second clips, multi-shot storytelling, effect templates and the option to turn audio off. Wan 2.5 Preview always generates sound, is limited to 5 or 10 seconds and is the only one of the two with a 480p tier.

Wan 2.6 vs Wan 2.6 I2V vs Wan 2.6 I2V Flash: which should I use?

wan2.6 covers text to video and single-image image to video at 5, 10 or 15 seconds. wan2.6-i2v is a dedicated image-to-video model, also at 5, 10 or 15 seconds, and wan2.6-i2v-flash accepts any length from 2 to 15 seconds with or without audio. Each has its own page and pricing.

What parameters does the Wan 2.6 API support?

model (wan2.6) is required, and prompt is required for text to video. Optional fields are image_urls (one image), negative_prompt, aspect_ratio (16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3 or 3:4, default 16:9, text to video only), resolution (720p or 1080p, default 720p), duration (5, 10 or 15, default 5), shot_type, audio, audio_url, template, prompt_extend, seed, watermark and nsfw_check.

Can Wan 2.6 turn an image into a video?

Yes. Send exactly one image in image_urls as a public URL or Base64 data URI. The prompt is optional and describes the motion; aspect_ratio is not used because the output follows the image.

Does Wan 2.6 support multi-shot video?

Yes. Set shot_type to multi for several connected shots in one video, or single for one continuous shot.

What effect templates does Wan 2.6 offer?

Image to video supports 12 templates: eight general effects (squish, rotation, poke, inflate, dissolve, melt, icecream and flying) and four single-person effects (carousel, singleheart, dance1 and dance2). The prompt is ignored when a template is set.

How do I call the Wan 2.6 API and get the video?

Submit to POST /v1/videos/generations and read the task ID from data[0].task_id. Poll GET /v1/tasks/{task_id} every few seconds until status is completed, then read data.result.videos[0].url[0]. Generation is asynchronous, and time depends on duration and resolution.

How much does the Wan 2.6 API cost per second?

Wan 2.6 is billed per second of video, and 1080p costs more per second than 720p. See the pricing table on this page for current rates; Gold members save 20%, and Platinum and Diamond members save up to 28%.

Is Wan 2.6 free or open source?

No. APIMart has no free quota for Wan 2.6; you pay per second for each task. Alibaba offers Wan 2.6 as a hosted API and has not published its weights. Alibaba's open-weight Wan releases are the Wan 2.2 family and specialized models such as Wan-Dancer; Wan 2.5 and later general video models are API-only.

How do I get a Wan 2.6 API key?

Sign up on APIMart, add balance and create a key on the API Keys page. Send it as Authorization: Bearer . The same key works for every Wan model and the rest of the APIMart catalog.
